Carbinom

From XL Laboratories comes an anti-thyroid product, Carbinom. Carbimazole (generic) is used to treat hyperthyroidism, an example of which is Graves’ Disease. Carbinom is a prodrug converted to methimazole after absorption. The active ingredient blocks the thyroid peroxidase needed in processing thyroid hormones. This leads to an over-all decrease in thyroid hormones, an important aspect in addressing hyperthyroidism. Carbinom comes in 5 mg and 10 mg tablets.
